Abaddon destroys Canticle City

Abaddon Destroys Canticle City refers to the orbital destruction of Canticle City on the daemon world Harmony, carried out by the newly formed Black Legion. The action took place within the Eye of Terror in the years following the Horus Heresy, after Ezekyle Abaddon had assumed leadership of what remained of the Sons of Horus and reforged them as the Black Legion. Canticle City crowned Harmony and served as the fortress-seat of Fabius Bile, the renegade Apothecary who maintained within its walls a cloned body of the fallen Warmaster Horus. Abaddon’s forces brought the cruiser Tlaloc out of orbit and drove it down onto the fortress, obliterating the city in a single strike. Abaddon is recorded as having killed the cloned Horus amid the wreckage, closing off Bile’s attempt to preserve or reconstitute the Warmaster’s likeness. The bombardment scarred Harmony itself, opening cracks in the planet’s crust that later accounts describe as still visible. In the present era Harmony lies in the hands of the Emperor’s Children, whose Eidolon leads the Phoenix Conclave, a warband that continues to make use of the ruined Canticle City.
