Angel’s Halo
The Angel’s Halo was a reconquest ordered by Commander Dante to reclaim Red Scar systems from Hive Fleet Leviathan after the Devastation of Baal. As Regent of Imperium Nihilus, Dante ordered the campaign to recover systems still held by remaining tendrils of the hive fleet. It began in the early 42nd millennium and, as of the latest account, remained ongoing. Dante’s own first move was to retake the remainder of the Baal system, leading ships to Kheru, a location described in accounts both as the system’s outer gas giant, on whose moons he fought, and as an arid sentinel world whose Imperial presence was confined to four sensoria-cities; both descriptions are recorded. At the capital facility Sensorem Primus, Lieutenant Perdaelus and Chief Librarian Mephiston drew Tyranid forces off, allowing Dante’s Sanguinary Guard and Suppressors to strike at the leader-beasts. Dante also led a strike against Genestealers on Kheru’s moons, during which the Sanguinor appeared and Veteran Squad Rasmiel was wiped out by a Broodlord. While Dante fought within the Baal system, other forces were sent to three further Points of Grace: Gabriel Seth and the Flesh Tearers at the industrial world Ashallon; Vanguard Space Marines of the Angels Encarmine at the linked stations of the Gamma IV system; and Captain Sendini, leading the 5th Company and reserves from the 9th Company, at the fortress world Bhelik Alphus, where the defence at Rhikan was recorded as failing. The shrine world Acrabellar was defended separately by the Blood Angels together with the Blood Scythes, Cruor Blades and Flesh Eaters. No final outcome for the wider campaign was recorded.
