Baal System

The Baal System is the Blood Angels’ home star system in Ultima Segmentum, comprising irradiated desert worlds around the fortress of Arx Angelicum. Baal itself is the seat of the Chapter. Its moons, Baal Primus and Baal Secundus, are the recruiting wastes where Sanguinius first walked among the tribes. Other worlds in the system include Ammonai, Kheru and Set, which lie within the same gravity well as the recruiting moons.

The Legion of Sanguinius used the system as a loyalist hub during the Horus Heresy. Some ten thousand years later, Hive Fleet Leviathan very nearly consumed it in the Devastation of Baal. Commander Dante held the moons and the homeworld while the Blood Angels’ successor Chapters fought on the outer worlds of the system. The system still bears the marks of that siege.

The Baal System remains the spiritual centre of the Blood Angels. The Chapter continues to answer from Baal after the Leviathan assault rather than relocating to a more secure fortress. Charts of Ultima Segmentum continue to record the system as the Chapter’s home, since the Blood Angels regard no other location as such.
