Astral Entry to the Black Library

The Astral Entry to the Black Library denotes a particular attempt by Ahzek Ahriman to reach the Black Library, the Harlequin archive held within the Webway rather than upon any world. The attempt was made during the 13th Black Crusade, at the end of the 41st millennium, with no narrower date recorded. It is distinguished from Ahriman’s other approaches to the same archive, namely the Raid on the Arcadian Librarium and the Sacking of the Etiamnun Reclusiam, each of which followed a different path toward the Library. To force a passage into the Webway, Ahriman captured Inquisitor Bronislaw Czevak and drew from him the means of tearing it open toward the Library’s doors. Harlequins defended the threshold, reinforced by a garrison drawn from the craftworld Ulthwé. Ahriman turned the Webway back upon itself, trapping the defending Eldar in a section of the Webway which he closed. Czevak was then taken from Ahriman by the Harlequinade of the Red Masque. The gate through which Czevak had passed was afterwards sealed and is recorded as never having been used again. Ahriman’s own body did not cross into the Library; an astral projection entered in its place while the body remained without. Upon that body’s hermetic parchment was set down what the projection beheld within, including the contents of the Tome Labyrinthus, a map detailing hidden passages of the Webway.
