Battle for Quintarn

The Battle for Quintarn was fought on the agri-world Quintarn, one of the Three Planets of Ultramar, during the Bloodborn invasion of 999.M41. The Dark Mechanicus priest Votheer Tark seized several of the planet’s dome cities and converted captured agri-cities into forge complexes, turning scavenged agricultural machinery and battlefield wrecks into war engines faster than the defenders could destroy them. The Ultramarines contingent was led by Captain Caito Galenus of the 5th Company and Captain Epathus of the 6th, with Brother-Sergeant Antaro Chronus commanding the Land Raiders of Strike Force Hammerfall and the Master of Sanctity, Ortan Cassius, sitting in council in the command bunker at Idrisia. Chronus delayed Tark’s armour at the Upashid Scar while the city was fortified. Scout Sergeant Torias Telion, who had landed sixty Scouts ahead of the main force without informing his captains, was spared censure at the urging of Cassius and Epathus. After three of the forge-cities had fallen, Telion’s squad destroyed the largest forge atop the Maidens of Nestor and brought down a corrupted Warhound Titan; unable to replace his losses, Tark was defeated by the Ultramarines and the Quintarn Defence Auxilia. Before the wider invasion was over, Cassius warned Telion that the war would leave lasting damage within the Chapter, since Marneus Calgar’s concealment of the fate of the Daemon Prince M’kar had shaken the faith of his captains.
