Ortan Cassius is Master of Sanctity of the Ultramarines, the Chaplain who lived through Hive Fleet Behemoth and then built the Tyrannic War Veterans so the next fleet would meet people who already hated it personally. He is the oldest fighting Ultramarine still taking sermons at the front.
Calgar keeps him because zeal looks better on someone who has already paid for it. Cassius does not preach recovery. He preaches that Macragge was almost eaten and that forgetfulness is a kind of heresy.
The Codex has a place for Chaplains. Cassius has a place for anyone who remembers what a hive ship smells like.
