Battle for Zero

The Battle for Zero was fought in M42 on Zero, a world in the Imperium Nihilus for which no sector, system, or exact coordinates are recorded. No narrower date than M42 is recorded; it followed the opening of the Great Rift. The Salamanders Forgefather Vulkan He’stan, whose office is the recovery of the Artefacts of Vulkan, had been drawn deep into the Imperium Nihilus by clues in the Tome of Fire. Accompanied by battle-brothers of the Hammers of Nocturne and the Covenant of Fire, two Salamanders successor Chapters of the Ultima Founding, he came to Zero believing that it held a clue to the location of the Unbound Flame. The Alpha Legion was pursuing the same trail. Its agents had infiltrated elements of the Hammers of Nocturne and turned much of the world’s population to their cause; one account names the Covenant of Fire as the infiltrated Chapter instead. He’stan’s forces prevailed, and the surviving Alpha Legionaries abandoned their mortal agents and withdrew. No trace of the clue was found. He’stan then followed the Traitors deeper into the Imperium Nihilus.
