Battle of Andante IV
The Battle of Andante IV was fought during the Thirteenth Black Crusade at a webway gate on Andante IV leading toward Craftworld Ulthwé. Eldrad Ulthran led Ulthwé and the Ghostwind there against the forces of Ezekyle Abaddon and the sorcerer Zaraphiston. Abaddon did not intend to invade Ulthwé itself, but to trap its Seer Council by seizing the world’s only escape route. Eldrad coordinated the defence by distributing waystones to his lieutenants so that strikes could be guided through the webway, and fought Abaddon hand to hand. His retinue prevailed, but Abaddon was withdrawn from the field by his patron gods before the Staff of Ulthamar could deliver the killing blow; Eldrad is not recorded as having been present on Cadia. He concluded from the battle that he could not prevent Abaddon’s wider plans, and that his own end would come as a martyr for Ulthwé.
