Battle of Andraxas

The Battle of Andraxas was fought in 922.M41 on the Imperial world of Andraxas between the Ultramarines and an Ork invasion. No segmentum, sector, system or coordinates are recorded for the world. Chief Librarian Varro Tigurius led an Ultramarines strike force to rescue a delegation of Tech-priests sheltering in the Great Bastion, a towering mega-fortress and the only part of the planet the Orks had not already subjugated. Within it the Adeptus Mechanicus had unearthed a force staff bearing the electro-recognition codes of Malcador the Sigillite. The Ultramarines struck with precision and fury, but Ork aerial supremacy let the greenskins pour reinforcements into the fight for the Bastion until Tigurius’s warriors were outnumbered fifty to one. As they prepared to commend their souls to the Emperor, the Legion of the Damned burst into realspace and fell upon the Orks. Tigurius renewed his attack against a foe whose morale had collapsed, and the Great Bastion was secured as a base for the evacuation of the world’s surviving Imperials. The force staff was examined first by the Mechanicus and then by Tigurius, yielding secrets about the construction of the Golden Throne, and it remains in his hands.
