Battle of Belial IV

The Battle of Belial IV was fought in 993.M37 on the Crone World of Belial IV, in the Eye of Terror, between Fabius Bile and the Drukhari Haemonculus Coven of the Thirteen Scars. It followed Bile’s period of study under Hexachires of that coven in Commorragh’s Tower of Flesh and his subsequent escape from the Dark City, after which the Thirteen Scars pursued him in a coordinated campaign that threatened his New Men. Cornered and abandoned by many allies, Bile is held in some accounts to have pledged himself to Fulgrim and to Slaanesh in exchange for aid and for leaving his New Men free to choose their own future; other tellings leave the terms of any such bargain unsettled. With that assistance he defeated the coven on Belial IV and afterwards reached an understanding with the Dark Eldar. From that battle onward, tradition holds that the figure known as Fabius continued less as a single warrior than as a gestalt of autonomous clones acting across many bodies. Belial IV, formerly an Eldar homeworld drawn into the Warp at the birth of Slaanesh, remains a Crone World of haunted cities and later Black Chapels; the battle of 993.M37 is distinct from any later Black Crusade fighting associated with the same world.
