Battle of Bodt
The Battle of Bodt is a Horus Heresy-era engagement fought on the world of Bodt, attributed to the World Eaters Legion’s campaigns of compliance and war. Bodt’s strategic importance is not fully attested in the surviving record, but its inclusion among the Legion’s actions places it within the wider pattern of worlds brought to compliance, forcibly or otherwise, as the Legion pursued the Warmaster’s cause across the breadth of the galactic civil war. Surviving accounts of the battle emphasise the Legion’s characteristic manner of war rather than a detailed order of battle: World Eaters formations closing to close-quarters slaughter consistent with the bloodletting compulsions imposed by the Butcher’s Nails, set against a defending force whose identity and strength are not clearly preserved. The fighting at Bodt is recorded as brief and costly, in keeping with the World Eaters’ reputation for engagements that traded tactical subtlety for the swiftest possible annihilation of the enemy. Within the wider chronology of the Horus Heresy, Bodt remains a minor but attested waypoint in the World Eaters’ campaign history, overshadowed by the Legion’s larger and better-documented actions elsewhere in the war.
