Autek Mor

Autek Mor was an Iron Father of Clan Morragul in the Iron Hands Legion who later led the Red Talons, a successor Chapter, after the Horus Heresy. A native of Medusa, he belonged to the Tenth Legion during the primarchy of Ferrus Manus. The Iron Fathers were the Legion’s masters of war-machines and augmetic craft, so his office made him necessary to its fighting strength. Within the Legion he is recorded as a figure who was tolerated rather than welcomed. Ferrus Manus accepted him with reluctance, and many of his fellow Iron Hands regarded Clan Morragul as excessive in its methods.

Mor was absent from Isstvan V when the Iron Hands were broken at the dropsite, the engagement in which Ferrus Manus was killed. Clan Morragul therefore kept its master while other clans lost theirs. During the Horus Heresy he is recorded as campaigning against traitor worlds from the vessel Red Talon. His aim was not the liberation of those worlds but to make the betrayal costly for those who had chosen it, and the campaign against Gethsamaine is the example that illustrates the distinction. He is not recorded as attempting to rebuild the Legion. He punished those found on the wrong side of the war and withdrew without waiting for acknowledgement. After the Legion divided, Mor took the Red Talons as a Chapter and kept the practices of Clan Morragul: no mercy, no speeches, and no effort to win the approval of those Iron Hands who had long thought him excessive. In the Orrery his timeline anchors are the Iron Hands during the Great Crusade and the Heresy, and the Red Talons afterwards. His map anchors are Medusa, his birthplace, and Isstvan V, the battlefield he did not attend. His standing among the sons of Ferrus Manus remained one of tolerance rather than regard.

His fate is not established in the material reflected on this site, and he is therefore listed as missing rather than dead. Accounts of the Red Talons after the division are sparse, and this dossier does not extend them beyond what is recorded.
