Battle of Bridge Two-Four
The Battle of Bridge Two-Four was fought on the Imperial world of Thracia in late M41, during a Chaos-fuelled rebellion in which Night Lords supported the rebels against the Imperial Guard. No segmentum, sector, system or coordinates are recorded for Thracia. Captain Idaeus of the Ultramarines Fourth Company was ordered to destroy a chain of bridges that would otherwise have let the enemy outflank the Guard advance. At Bridge Two-Four, with the company hard pressed and a Techmarine already lost, Idaeus gave his power sword to veteran sergeant Uriel Ventris and triggered the remaining charges himself, destroying the bridge and dying in the explosion. Ventris assumed command of the survivors. Chapter Master Marneus Calgar afterwards confirmed him as captain of the Fourth Company, and the Sword of Idaeus remained Ventris’s principal blade.
