Battle of Krongar
The Battle of Krongar was a duel on Krongar between Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka and Wolf Lord Ragnar Blackmane of the Space Wolves. Krongar lies in the Krognar System, in the Skarskell Subsector of Segmentum Ultima. No coordinates are recorded. No narrower year than the early Era Indomitus is recorded. It was during the Psychic Awakening, after the Great Rift had opened. Ragnar had tracked Ghazghkull there to stop the gathering of his Great Waaagh. One account, from the novel of Ghazghkull’s life, says Ghazghkull detonated explosives that blocked the entrance of an Imperial cathedral and so isolated the two of them. Ragnar cut the hydraulic cabling of Ghazghkull’s armour, and Ghazghkull crushed Ragnar in his claw, whereupon Ragnar decapitated him with a frost blade. Ghazghkull’s followers recovered the body. Mad Dok Grotsnik, with Mekboyz, used an orbital power generator that stood between the materium and the immaterium to strike the body with green energy. The attempt had four chances in five of destroying half the planet. It restored Ghazghkull after ten days and nights, and he was larger than before. Another account, from the Prophecy of the Wolf campaign, says Ragnar led a covert entry into the stronghold and decapitated Ghazghkull, and was himself near death and carried off for treatment. Nobz took the body and the head to Grotsnik’s laboratory, where the remains were frozen and the head and salvageable parts were grafted to a large cybernetic body. That operation succeeded. When the death was reported, Krongar’s tribes fought one another, and the restored Ghazghkull stopped that fighting. Ragnar later returned. The two fought an inconclusive skirmish. Ragnar withdrew and dropped an orbital station onto Krongar.
