Castigation of Acralem

The castigation of Acralem was fought in 799.M41 on the world of Acralem in the Vidar Sector of Ultima Segmentum, when the Daemon Prince M’kar the Reborn opened a daemonic incursion that threatened not only the planet but the wider sector. Grey Knights of the Third Brotherhood struck the daemon’s warp-fortress with aid from nine Astra Militarum regiments and from the Flesh Tearers and Astral Knights Chapters. The tide turned only when Battle-Brother Kaldor Draigo delivered the deathblow that cast M’kar back into the warp. Before he was banished, M’kar laid a curse on Draigo, warning that any return to Acralem would walk with damnation. The action is recorded as the first named victory that later tradition associates with Draigo’s rise among the Grey Knights, and as the opening of the Chapter’s long feud with M’kar.
