Devastation of Boros

The Devastation of Boros was an Ultramarines campaign of 944.M41 against the Ork Empire of Charadon on the Imperial planet Boros in the Ultima Segmentum. No sector, system or coordinates are recorded for the world. The Charadon empire, the largest and longest-lived Ork empire known, had invaded Boros. Chief Librarian Varro Tigurius and the Ultramarines 4th Company destroyed its forces there; in battle Tigurius’s withdrawn manner gave way to a warrior’s fury, and his example inspired exhausted Space Marines to new heights of valour. The victory halted the empire’s expansion for a time and formed part of the Ultramarines’ wider effort, guided by Tigurius, to strike at Charadon before a full Waaagh! could form against Ultramar. Another account credits the Ultramarines command at Boros to Chapter Master Marneus Calgar, flying in his Thunderhawk Herald IV, and a list of the Chapter’s battles adds that Calgar and Tigurius were among the few survivors and witnessed the arrival of the Legion of the Damned.
