Discovery of Lion El’Jonson on Caliban

The Discovery of Lion El’Jonson on Caliban was the reunion of the Emperor of Mankind with the primarch of the I Legion on the death world that had raised him. The Lion’s gestation capsule had come down in a remote tract of Caliban’s forests; he survived about a decade alone among the Great Beasts before knights of the Order found him wounded and bloodied. Luther stayed their hands, brought the wild youth to the fortress-monastery, and named him Lion El’Jonson, “the Lion, the Son of the Forest.” Under Luther’s care the Lion mastered speech and the Order’s customs with unnatural speed, rose with Luther through its ranks, and led a decade-long crusade that cleared Caliban of its Great Beasts. He was named Supreme Grand Master of the Order and demanded fealty of the other knightly houses; only the Chaos-touched Knights of Lupus refused, and they were destroyed. When I Legion forward scouts reached Caliban, the Lion sensed kinship with the Emperor at once, swore fealty, and received command of the Legion. Luther and other Order brethren who passed the trials joined him; the Legion was renamed the Dark Angels after a Calibanite myth. The discovery thus joins Caliban’s knightly pacification to the I Legion’s rebirth under its primarch. The Lion left Caliban with the Emperor aboard the Gloriana-class flagship Invincible Reason, leaving behind a world already reshaped by his crusade against the Beasts and by the Order’s new place within the Imperium.
