Duel on Iax
The Duel on Iax was a confrontation fought at the end of the Plague Wars on Iax, a world in Ultramar, between Guilliman and the daemon primarch Mortarion. Mortarion defeated Guilliman in the duel and inflicted upon him the Godblight, a disease capable of killing a primarch. The Emperor’s power then revived Guilliman, and Mortarion fled; a blow from the Emperor’s Sword, channelled through Guilliman, burned part of Nurgle’s garden. Ku’Gath prepared the Godblight with Mortarion; Nurgle ordered a move to the Scourge Stars, which Mortarion and Ku’Gath did not follow, and Typhus is not recorded on Iax.
