The Duel on the Vengeful Spirit denotes the climactic single combat between Warmaster Horus and the Emperor of Mankind, traditionally located on the bridge of Horus’s flagship during the Siege of Terra. Accounts of the engagement describe it as the final confrontation of the Horus Heresy, fought while loyalist forces boarded the vessel in orbit above the Throneworld. The duel’s outcome, resulting in Horus’s death and the Emperor’s mortal wounding, is held to mark the end of the Heresy’s active civil war.
