Endymion Suppression

The Endymion Suppression was the Carcharodons’ campaign of systematic annihilation across the worlds of the Endymion Cluster during the Badab War, fought to draw the Mantis Warriors into battle and break them as an effective Chapter. Shade Lord Tyberos commanded the Carcharodon fleet from the Nicor after Carab Culln accepted the Chapter into the Loyalist order of battle and sent it against the Cluster. Planet after planet that still owed loyalty to the Mantis Warriors was subjected to a scorched-world policy: infrastructure smashed and populations slain until Mantis Warriors honour forced intervention. That intervention played into the Carcharodons’ design; worn down by repeated assaults, the Mantis Warriors surrendered, their days as a coherent fighting force in the Cluster over. Tranquility III, the jungle death world whose Valley of the Nine Winds had trained Mantis Warriors neophytes, marks the Cluster’s training ground in later accounts of what the war cost the Chapter. The suppression opened the path to the later Loyalist investment of Badab Primaris and to the Carcharodons’ return to the Tranquility System once the Tyrant had fallen.
