The Fall of Marax was the loss of Imperial rule on the death world of Marax, which passed to Chaos after centuries of heretical wars and daemonic incursions. The collapse took place during a period of warpsurge centuries on Marax. Heretical wars and daemonic incursions crushed Imperial authority on the planet, and its cities burned to ruins. Pockets of survivors withdrew into the tunnel systems beneath them. The resulting isolation completed the collapse, achieving what a Chaos fleet might have needed years to accomplish. When Caligari Conclave reclaim missions charted the Balthar System again, Marax was a Chaos-held death world. No living hive government remained above ground.
