Faze V Uprising

The Faze V Uprising was fought on Faze V in 897.M41, between the Imperium and secessionist forces. No segmentum and no star system are recorded for the world. After the Nephilim Schism, refugees from wars on the southern galactic rim entered a region usually wracked by warp storms, which was then calm. A joint expedition of Rogue Traders and the Dark Angels 5th Company was fired upon by orbital energy weapons of an unknown type. The Dark Angels descended to the surface and found a population altered by cybernetic arts and controlled by a machine intelligence; they destroyed the intelligence’s logic engines. The captives wished to remain in communion with the machine and rejected the rule of the Adeptus Terra, and an uprising of millions followed. The Dark Angels fought a four-month counter-insurgency, driving the rebels back to silicon fortresses, where they were wiped out. Before departure, Techmarines, accompanied by Grand Master Bekenel, retrieved undisclosed data from the remains of the machine intelligence, and the Dark Angels left Faze V to burn. Azrael, later Supreme Grand Master of the Dark Angels, is separately recorded as having crushed a techno-revivalist cult during the uprising. The campaign account does not name him, and names the 5th Company and Grand Master Bekenel for the actions above.
