The Flect epidemic on Eustis Majoris was the spread of flect, an addictive warp-tainted glass that produced visions, through the planet’s hives. Shards of the material circulated alongside the language-work of the Cognitae, and the two together eroded the order of the hive cities. The warband of Ravenor arrived on Eustis Majoris while flect shards and Cognitae language-work were already spreading through the hives. Administratum towers, void docks and underhive markets all handled the same cargo, which supplied visions to its users and left them addicted. Zygmunt Molotch used the crisis as cover for his research into Enuncia. The habit of Carl Thonius created the opening through which Slyte later entered. The Angelus capital did not fall in a single battle. Over the course of the campaign it functioned as a laboratory, in which each miscalculation, however ingenious, cost the hive a further floor.
