K’resh Expansions

The K’resh Expansions were a war fought between Orks and the T’au Empire during the Great War of Confederation, which began in 975.M41, following the Second Sphere of Expansion; no more precise date is recorded. Command was held by Commander Shadowsun, recently woken from cryogenic stasis by the Ethereal Supreme Aun’va, an Ethereal being a member of the T’au ruling caste, who applied Kauyon, the “patient hunter” doctrine of ambush, against the Ork hordes. She personally led a strike against the Ork Warlord, timed to the start of an eclipse, which one account describes as artificial, deploying by low-flying Orca dropships with a stealthsuit team into the heart of the Ork encampment. Under cover of the eclipse, the team killed the Ork leaders one by one, and Shadowsun personally killed the Warlord. The Orks collapsed into panic, and by the eclipse’s end the war had been won. The eclipse over K’resh gave her the name Shadowsun, and she became revered; the Ethereal Supreme Aun’va, judging the moment right, ordered the Third Sphere of Expansion to begin.
