The Krieg civil war and reconquest was the conflict that followed the secession of Krieg’s autocrats in 433.M40. Colonel Jurten answered the secession with atomic bombardment, and roughly five centuries of trench warfare followed. Krieg was a hive world until its autocrats seceded in 433.M40, the 433rd year of the fortieth millennium. Colonel Jurten responded to the secession with atomic bombardment of the planet. Trench warfare then continued for approximately five centuries. The conflict left the surface of Krieg barren, and nothing grows there. The civilian population lives in bunkers and subsists on vat-produced gruel, and a named grave is regarded as a luxury. The Departmento Munitorum now owns the devastated remains of the planet. The only export of Krieg is the Death Korps, so the world supplies military manpower rather than agricultural or industrial goods.
