Liberation of Camarth
The Liberation of Camarth was the first campaign of Lion El’Jonson after his awakening in M42. The primarch of the Dark Angels emerged from the forest-realm known as Mirror-Caliban onto the jungle death world Camarth, which the Ten Thousand Eyes Chaos warband had been ravaging since the Great Rift cut the planet off from the Imperium. There he encountered the loyalist Fallen Angel Zabriel, and the meeting restored memories lost since his long sleep. Together with Zabriel, other survivors among the Imperial population, and a growing company of redeemed Fallen later called the Risen, the Lion drove the Ten Thousand Eyes from Camarth. The victory made Camarth the first world of the Lion’s Protectorate, the informal dominion he thereafter extended across parts of Imperium Nihilus by Forestwalk and open war. Accounts of the awakening place the Lion first in Mirror-Caliban’s misted woods, guided by a Watcher in the Dark, before the trees gave way to Camarth’s ruined forests. From Camarth he learned to enter Mirror-Caliban at will and to step from it onto other threatened worlds, beginning the path that led to Avalus and, later, to the Battle of Idolatros.
