Liberation of Scarato

The Liberation of Scarato was an action carried out by the Raven Guard Legion under their primarch Corax during the Horus Heresy, on the penal world of Scarato. The world had been seized by the Sons of Horus, who imprisoned and terrorised much of its population, including its governor, Baroness Naima Starothrendar. The occupiers’ atrocities provoked a general uprising among the populace, which Corax and his Legion supported, and the combined effort liberated the world from Traitor control. Afterwards, Corax made use of Scarato’s astropaths to broadcast a rallying call, appealing to survivors of the Shattered Legions. The summons was answered by more than three hundred legionaries, who made their way to join the Raven Guard, considerably strengthening a force that had been left badly depleted. The action at Scarato formed part of a wider campaign that Corax waged after the Battle of Ravendelve, comprising raids and instigated uprisings against worlds held by the Traitors, undertaken to compensate for the Legion’s diminished numbers.
