Morlond strike
The Morlond strike was a large-scale engagement of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade fought for control of Morlond. It formed part of the broader Imperial campaign to reclaim the Sabbat Worlds sector from Archenemy occupation, committing substantial Astra Militarum forces to the reduction of the world’s defences and the securing of its strategic assets. The operation is chronicled within the Gaunt’s Ghosts sequence of novels, which follows the Tanith First-and-Only regiment through successive theatres of the Crusade. Morlond stood as one such theatre, its capture forming part of the wider effort to consolidate Imperial gains and deny the Archenemy a contested foothold within the sector. As with other large-scale actions of the Crusade, the Morlond strike is remembered chiefly through the regimental and literary record rather than through detailed campaign archives, its course and consequences preserved principally in the accounts of those who fought there.
