Paramar Wars

The Paramar Wars were clashes fought across the Paramar system during the Horus Heresy, as Traitor forces hunted Loyalist remnants sheltering there. The fighting broke out in the wake of the rebellion’s opening atrocities, when Loyalist survivors scattered by earlier defeats sought refuge or safe passage through Paramar’s worlds. Traitor formations, committed to preventing their escape or resupply, followed in pursuit, and the system became a secondary but stubborn theatre of the wider civil war. The character of the fighting was closer to guerrilla war than open battle. Isolated Loyalist bands evaded hunting parties across Paramar’s surface and subterranean environs, drawing on local resistance networks and improvised fortifications to prolong their defiance rather than risk annihilation in the field. Traitor forces responded by sealing the system to deny any relief or extraction, then committing substantial numbers of troops and warships to sweep its worlds and cities in search of the survivors. The result was fighting dispersed across many small engagements rather than concentrated in a single decisive clash, extending the campaign well beyond what its strategic weight might otherwise have warranted.
