Promethean War

The Promethean War was fought in 980.M41 on Heletine, a Cardinal World of the Ultima Segmentum, between the Black Legion and an Imperial force comprising the Salamanders 6th Company under Captain Ur’zan Drakgaard and Chaplain Elysius, Cadian regiments including the Cadian 81st, and the Order of the Ebon Chalice under Canoness Angerer. The Black Legion moved from relic site to relic site, despoiling each in turn, in what the Imperial commanders took to be a ritual aimed at weakening the faith of the Imperium, and the fighting spread across Canticus, Solist and Escadan, ravaging much of the world’s sacred architecture. The war became one of attrition. Immolators and Land Raider Redeemers burned paths through the cities, but the Imperial advance was halted when the Daemon Prince Lord Gralastyx, commanding the Chaos forces, unleashed a swarm of Possessed Chaos Space Marines. Battle Sisters and Space Marines fought back to back until Saint Celestine appeared without warning, carved a path through the horde and drove her blade through Gralastyx’s heart, after which the Chaos host was destroyed. Of Celestine there was afterwards no sign. It remains unclear whether this manifestation occurred during her lifetime or after she had been declared dead on Forrax.
