Recovery of the Moon Wolf

The Recovery of the Moon Wolf was a mission undertaken by a squadron of World Eaters sent by Horus into the ruins of Prospero in the aftermath of its Burning, early in the Horus Heresy. Khârn, who had taken no part in the Burning itself, led the party. Horus sought the return of the Moon Wolf, a sigil he had given to Magnus the Red, so that no other psyker might use it to reach him as Magnus once had. Khârn also searched the ruins for Thousand Sons devices said to heal the mind. He recovered the sigil in the Reflecting Caves, where Magnus had left it. Amid the ruins of Tizca, Khârn’s party encountered Thousand Sons Captain Menes Kalliston of the 4th Fellowship, who had returned to the city against advice. After a brief fight, Kalliston was captured and interrogated by Khârn. He told Khârn that the mind-healing devices he sought had already been destroyed, and offered instead to use his Athanaean psychic gifts to ease the pain of Khârn’s mind. Khârn refused the offer, declaring himself beyond saving, and beat Kalliston to death.
