Scouring of Elysia

The Fifth Black Crusade, also known as the Tide of Blood and the Scouring of Elysia, took place in 723.M36 in the Elysia Sector of the Ultima Segmentum. That sector was unconnected to the Drop Troops world of the same name, Elysia. Abaddon stirred invasions across a dozen worlds of the sector and kept the Imperial Navy engaged in the void, before leading the Black Legion itself against the city of Kasyr Lutien on the world of Tarinth. Having taken the city, Abaddon burned it and ordered the sacrifice of ten million of its people. Their blood was channelled into a lake, and through it the daemon prince Doombreed stepped; Abaddon had promised him the skulls of a Chapter in exchange. The Warhawks and the Venerators Chapters assaulted the city in response and were destroyed, and their gene-seed was lost. A Blood Angels force aboard the battle barge Eclipse of Hope disappeared during the crusade and is recorded as having imprisoned Doombreed on the world of Pallevon. The result of the crusade as a whole is recorded as a victory for Chaos. Separately from this campaign, the Flawless Host raided the worlds of Galvan II and Galvan IV for artefacts that Abaddon had requested.
