Targus VIII Campaign

The Targus VIII Campaign was a Raven Guard action against Waaagh! Skullkrak on the hive world of Targus VIII, which began in 862.M41. Shadow Captain Kayvaan Shrike and the Raven Guard 3rd Company were detailed to eliminate the Orks’ orbital defences, a task they accomplished quickly, but were stranded on the planet when the Thunderhawk gunship sent to extract them was destroyed in orbit. Without pause Shrike led his company in a two-year guerrilla campaign behind the Ork lines, striking at vulnerable supplies and providing reconnaissance data for naval vessels in orbit. The company’s mastery of concealment left it largely untouchable among the ruined hive cities. Thanks to Shrike and his company, the wider Targus campaign was brought to a close decades earlier than Imperial tacticians had predicted, and by the time the 3rd Company was extracted the entire system hailed him as a hero. Shrike later continued operations against Waaagh! Skullkrak on worlds already abandoned to the greenskins.
