The Reproving of Monarchia
The Reproving of Monarchia was the Emperor’s chastisement of Lorgar and the Word Bearers Legion, marked by the razing of Monarchia in circa 005.M31. Having learned that Lorgar had encouraged the Khurian population to venerate him as a living god, the Emperor travelled to Khur accompanied by Roboute Guilliman and elements of the Ultramarines Legion. Imperial forces reduced Monarchia to ruin while Lorgar was compelled to kneel motionless before the assembled host as the Emperor denounced his fostering of faith over the Imperial Truth. The episode left Lorgar deeply humiliated and is widely cited as a pivotal moment in his subsequent turn toward Chaos worship, contributing to the Word Bearers’ later role in instigating the Horus Heresy.
