The warpsurge isolation of Balthar was the centuries-long severance of the Balthar System from the Imperium by a violent warpsurge. The system cut off was Balthar, and its inhabitants remained without contact with the Imperium for the duration. Imperial charts continued to place the Balthar System in the Tenebra Subsector of the Caligari Sector, within Segmentum Tempestus, but the warpsurge effectively isolated it. Civilisation on Balthar decayed over this period. The promethium pumps of Aphagia Minor ran untended, and Chaos spawn claimed the mining towns. Balthar’s population declined into depravity and heresy. Late reclamation missions undertaken by the Caligari Conclave of the Inquisition found the heresy already established. Balthar remained the named world of the system throughout these missions.
