World Prince Campaign

The World Prince Campaign was a Great Crusade compliance action of 999.M30, fought for an unnamed hive world whose ruler bore the title World-Prince. Rogal Dorn and the Imperial Fists had been taking the planet hive by hive when the Alpha Legion arrived unannounced, stating only that they came as allies. No Alpha Legion force could be fixed on the ground, yet uprisings and coups erupted across the remaining hives, and in a single hour every direct blood relative of the World-Prince was killed by assassins who had been people trusted and close to the slain. Four hundred and one members of the ruling nobility died; the World-Prince, broken, surrendered to Dorn in person, believing him responsible. In the throne room Dorn confronted Alpharius, who stood among his lieutenants Ingo Pech and Kel Silonius and at first sought to conceal which of them was the primarch. Dorn identified him correctly, struck to confirm the identification, and then berated him for deceitful methods, laying out how the Alpha Legion’s plan had been mistimed by its own criteria and demanding that all operatives leave the world. Alpharius answered that the Emperor had made him to wage war in that fashion, as Dorn had been made for his. The disagreement over method, already sharp after earlier campaigns such as Tesstra, hardened here into a lasting enmity between the two primarchs and their Legions.
