Kabal of the Flayed Skull

The Kabal of the Flayed Skull is a Drukhari kabal of Commorragh, ranked second in military strength only to the Kabal of the Black Heart. Its warriors are marked by stylised bloodstreaks painted across the face, echoing the sinister design of the kabal’s flayed-skull sigil, and its livery is recorded as red and black. The kabal is led by Archon Vraesque Malidrach, a former Reaver death-racer who rose from the arena of Khad Mhetrul, known as the Bitterspire, to seize mastery over the followers who would form his kabal.

The Flayed Skull holds no world beyond Commorragh itself, where it commands one of the dark city’s highest and most jagged spires, known as the Poisoned Crown. The spire is a toxic tangle of chimneys and vents rising from the Haemonculi laboratories beneath it, ringed with docks and grav-moorings that shelter a vast and shifting fleet of Razorwing Jetfighters and Voidraven Bombers. This aerial concentration draws freelance Reaver pilots, Hellion packs, and bands of Scourges eager to fight under Vraesque, a commander renowned for airborne warfare and swift, shocking raids.

The kabal’s course has been marked by campaigns fought largely from the sky, including the raid on Bluebloods 87th Regiment, the raid on Thrandium, the Bitterblood Wars, and the raid on Bolgrog’s World. The action against Thrandium is remembered in particular for its Kabalite Warriors barely setting foot upon the conquered world, the victory won almost entirely through aerial dominance.

Beneath Vraesque, the Flayed Skull’s strength is organised into named retinues and allied bands, among them the Kabalite Trueborn of the Wydowbane Purebloods under Dracon Sahella Wydowbane, an Incubi contingent called the Shrine of Splintered Bone, the Prophets of Flesh coven led by the Haemonculus Maeloch Xholl, and Wych cults fighting under the Succubus Elyra Narcitsyn. This layered following of pilots, Trueborn, Incubi, Haemonculi, and Wyches sustains the kabal’s standing as one of Commorragh’s foremost powers, with Vraesque Malidrach still recorded as its ruling Archon.
