The Knights of Gryphonne are a Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unrecorded origin and Founding, loyal to the Imperium of Man. No progenitor Chapter or primarch lineage is confirmed for the Knights of Gryphonne, and the identity of its founding Chapter Master is likewise unrecorded. The Chapter is recorded as an active crusading force, its Astartes conducting themselves within the normal customs of the Adeptus Astartes, with no indication of censure or dissolution.

The Knights of Gryphonne maintain no confirmed fortress-monastery and are described as a fleet-based Chapter, its name evidently linked to a world known as Gryphonne IV, though no permanent settlement or homeworld has been firmly established in surviving accounts. The Chapter’s crusading fleet was last recorded operating in the Segmentum Tempestus, in the vicinity of the Reductus Sector. Knights of Gryphonne battle-brothers wear ochre power armour marked with a black Aquila, though red-and-black colour schemes are also attested, and accounts differ as to which is the Chapter’s true livery. Uniquely among Codex-compliant Chapters, the Knights of Gryphonne do not mark company affiliation upon their armour, the eagle upon the breastplate instead rendered in colours that vary by company. Its heraldic badge, a black rampant gryphon upon a field of ochre, echoes the form of devices used by other Chapters bearing griffon iconography, though no confirmed kinship is recorded between them.

Because the Chapter’s Founding and early campaigns are absent from surviving accounts, its course through the Imperium’s wars cannot be reconstructed in detail. What is recorded is its standing as a Crusade-postured fleet Chapter, permanently underway rather than garrisoned, consistent with Chapters raised for or committed to open-ended campaigns along the Imperium’s frontiers.
