Argon Prime

Argon Prime is a semitropical hive world in the Balthar System, governed by a military dictatorship that arose from isolation during the Caligari warpsurge. Overbuilt hives cover the planet and supply a founding regimental line of the Astra Militarum, the Imperial Guard.

When the Caligari warpsurge sealed the Balthar System, that regiment maintained order in the hive streets. After the first decades of silence, its general staff declared emergency rule, to last until contact with the wider Imperium was restored. Contact did not return for centuries.

The temporary measure became a permanent dictatorship exercised in the name of the God-Emperor. Conclave reclaim teams that later reached the world found hives still answering to the general staff, not to a civilian governor. Argon Prime therefore stands as a documented case in which a wartime command, cut off from higher authority, converted emergency powers into lasting government.
