Bakka System

The Bakka System is a young, mineral-rich star system that serves as the naval capital of Segmentum Tempestus. Its principal world consists of lava seas and rafts of black rock. Battlefleet Tempestus is based in the system, its shipyards stand on the rafts behind adamantium walls, and Tempest Hold keeps watch in orbit.

Bakka is one of the five Segmentum fortresses. Mars serves Segmentum Solar, Cypra Mundi serves Segmentum Obscurus, Hydraphur serves Segmentum Pacificus, Kar Duniash serves Segmentum Ultima, and Bakka serves the southern Segmentum Tempestus. The atmosphere of the principal world is poisonous, and the system’s chief output is naval strength. Its yards have been the last dock before the void for forces engaged in the Ork wars, against Tyranid tendrils, and in every southern crusade.

The Bakka System remains significant because Segmentum Tempestus has no second capital of comparable scale. Unofficial fan maps place the system under the Bakka Sector. It should not be confused with Bakka as a person, nor with any of the hive worlds of Segmentum Tempestus.
