Bakka

Bakka is the naval base of Segmentum Tempestus, a young mineral world whose surface consists of lava seas and rafts of black rock. Its shipyards stand on these rafts, protected by adamantium walls. The atmosphere is lethal without a breathing mask.

Battlefleet Bakka, the naval force based on the world, has sustained casualties in actions fought for Macragge and Fenris, and in the defence of its own moorings.

Bakka also supplies ground forces. Irregulars raised on the world serve as mass infantry, operating from the decks of the fleet. The world’s standing rests on this dual contribution of shipyards and warships on the one hand and infantry on the other.
