Brigia

Brigia is a densely populated Imperial world in the Gothic Sector of Segmentum Obscurus, the setting of a siege fought over the loyalty of its own defenders. The precise date of the conflict within the wider Forgotten Wars (580.M31–632.M32) is not recorded, nor is any more exact location within the system.

During the Forgotten Wars, the Unforgiven came to judge that Grand Captain Tylius, commander of Brigia’s planetary defence force, was probably one of the Fallen and had been in contact with Cypher. Tylius remained inside Brigia’s main fortress system, shielded by an army loyal to him that functioned as a bodyguard. In response, Supreme Grand Master Purson gathered nearby Unforgiven support: the Angels of Redemption and the Lions Sable answered the call, while the Angels of Absolution, stationed to the galactic east, sent no aid.

The Unforgiven broke into the fortress’s outer defences through drop-pod assaults, Dreadnought attacks and Land Speeder lance strikes. When Cypher was sighted in the trench line, Terminator reserves teleported after him and the assault on Tylius’s keep was paused. Tylius then revealed his true loyalty, releasing a reserve force of Chaos Space Marine Terminators and cultists drawn from Brigia’s own population centres, part of a wider Alpha Legion scheme. Cypher shot a path through the defenders, melted a blast door with his plasma pistol and descended into the tunnels beneath the fortress; the Unforgiven, held by the Terminator fighting, could not immediately follow.

The Unforgiven eventually broke both the cultist levies and the enemy Terminators, a Land Speeder Vengeance delivering the plasma shot that finished the last enemy squad, but by then both Cypher and Tylius had already escaped Brigia. The world’s role in the Forgotten Wars is remembered chiefly through this failed attempt to capture a Fallen commander entrenched among his own loyalists, and through the brief, unconfirmed sighting of Cypher that diverted the Unforgiven at the critical moment.
