Elysia

Elysia is a verdant, civilised world that supplies the Imperial Guard with Elysian Drop Troops rather than line infantry. Its military tradition derives from the character of its home system.

The barren moons, gas clouds and asteroid belts of the Elysian system have long provided cover for pirates. The planet’s Planetary Defence Force (PDF) has therefore trained in boarding actions and grav-chute drops, and its personnel acquire these skills before any of them is selected for service in the Guard.

The Elysian tithe, the levy of troops owed to the Imperial Guard, takes the form of whole regiments of drop troops delivered by Valkyries, without a Leman Russ battle tank column in support. Sources differ on the system’s location. Jambonium places it in Segmentum Solar, near Armageddon, whereas a Lexicanum planet stub lists it in Segmentum Ultima.
