Elysia System

The Elysia System is a star system in the Elysia Sector, centred on the verdant world of Elysia, homeland of the Elysian Drop Troops. Its barren moons, gas clouds and asteroid belts have long offered cover to pirates. As a result, the local planetary defence force (PDF) learns boarding actions and grav-chute drops before it learns ceremonial duties.

Pirates, and later Imperial Guard deployments, have used the system’s debris as a hiding place, as have other void-borne traffic attracted by a wealthy world. Elysia is the only principal world of the system, with no second hive to share its prominence. The surrounding clutter therefore serves as the training ground for the population that Elysia supplies.

The system remains significant because drop infantry must be drawn from a place that practises descent as a matter of course. Elysia raises the Elysian Drop Troops, and the hazardous space around it accounts for their familiarity with drops. Unofficial fan maps keep the system within the Elysia Sector and do not relocate the Drop Troops to a generic Tempestus homeworld.
