Eternity Wall spaceport

The Eternity Wall spaceport was one of the principal spaceports of Terra, integrated into the planet’s outer fortifications during the Horus Heresy. As a major hub for orbital and surface void traffic, it formed part of the layered defensive architecture erected around the Imperial Palace in the years preceding the Siege of Terra, and was garrisoned accordingly against the anticipated approach of Traitor forces loyal to the Warmaster Horus.

During the Siege of Terra, the spaceport lay within the zone of the Battle for the First Wall, one of the opening and most bitterly contested phases of the assault on the Throneworld. Traitor Legion forces, supported by armour, aircraft, and daemonic incursion, assailed the complex in an effort to secure a foothold within Terra’s outer defences and open the way toward the Palace itself. Loyalist defenders, drawn from the Legio Custodes, the Imperial Fists, and Imperial Army formations, together with irregular survivors of earlier defeats, resisted the assault at heavy cost.

The spaceport ultimately fell to the attackers, its loss compelling the retreat of surviving defenders and civilian refugees toward other strongpoints on Terra. The episode is remembered as one of the significant early reverses of the siege, and its fall is recounted in the Siege of Terra series of Horus Heresy novels as a marker of the scale and ferocity of the fighting for Terra’s outer defences.
