Gildar Octavius

Gildar Octavius is the eighth numbered world of the Gildar System, an outer world of the Rift patrolled by the Silver Skulls. It is distinct from Gildar Secundus, the site of the principal ground engagement in the novel. This entry records the name with the spelling Octavius; the variant Octavus also occurs.

Most of the eight worlds of the system are uninhabited. After the engagement in the void, corsairs dispersed among the Rift’s inhabited worlds, and the Silver Skulls purged them within weeks. The poisoning of an agri-world is associated with Quintus, and the main battle of the novel with Secundus. Octavius lies at the outer numbering of the system and is not a second Secundus.

Gildar Octavius remains significant as a named world of the Rift. Unofficial summaries retain the Gildar System as its parent location and do not merge this entry with those for Quintus, Quartus or the Rift region.
