Kar Duniash System

The Kar Duniash System is a fortress and naval-academy star system of Ultima Segmentum, where Dominator cruisers are built. Its principal world, Kar Duniash, serves as the eastern fleet capital. The Great Rift later placed the system in Imperium Nihilus, close to the region of darkness that the Rift created.

Ultima is the largest of the segmentums, and the system was intended to serve as its administrative centre. After the Rift, the fortress lay on the far side of the divide, yet remained responsible for directing a fleet without a dependable route to Terra. For this reason, later campaigns treat Kar Duniash as a matter of Imperium Nihilus rather than as a secluded academy world.

The system retains its standing because Ultima Nihilus requires a named naval seat, even though the light of the Astronomican, the psychic beacon that guides interstellar navigation, is uncertain there. Unofficial summaries keep Ultima as the parent segmentum and do not relocate the fortress to Macragge.
