Kar Duniash System

The Kar Duniash System is the segmentum-fortress and naval-academy star system of Ultima Segmentum, the yard that builds Dominator cruisers. Kar Duniash itself is the eastern fleet capital; the Great Rift later parked the well in Imperium Nihilus, uncomfortably close to the dark.

Ultima is the largest segmentum, and this system was supposed to be its desk. After the Rift it became a fortress on the wrong side of the scar, still expected to run a fleet without a reliable road home to Terra. That is why later campaigns treat Kar Duniash as a Nihilus problem, not a quiet academy world.

The Kar Duniash System still matters because Ultima Nihilus needs a named naval seat even if the light of the Astronomican is a rumour. Unofficial fan summaries keep the Ultima parent and do not relocate the fortress to Macragge.
