Krieg System

The Krieg System is a death-world star system in the Uhulis Sector, whose hive world, Krieg, was devastated by nuclear war and produced the Death Korps. The system is defined almost entirely by that single planet and by the militarised society that survived its destruction.

Krieg was originally a civilised hive world. Its ruling autocrats seceded from the Imperium in 433.M40, and Colonel Jurten responded with a nuclear assault on the planet. The Death Korps arose from the trench warfare that followed, and the world has remained in that condition for five centuries. The Departmento Munitorum, the Imperial administration responsible for equipping and supplying the Imperium’s armies, now controls the system. It contains no second habitable world, only Krieg and its fortifications, and Krieg’s culture treats an individual life as expendable in the manner of ammunition.

The Krieg System is significant as a source of siege infantry rather than as a destination. Its regiments are replenished more reliably than those of most hive worlds, which explains its continued place on Segmentum Tempestus charts. The system remains classified under the Uhulis Sector; the presence of the Death Korps in campaigns across the Imperium does not alter that placement, and it is not reassigned to Segmentum Solar.
