Malvolion

Malvolion was an agri-world in the Ghost Stars, consumed by the Tyranids in 992.M41 and depicted in a short story by Dan Abnett. In that account, the last Guardsmen on the planet watch the Lamenters die within an hour. This entry concerns the agri-world, a planet given over to food production, and not the general of the same name.

The inhabitants discovered a Tyranid beacon and requested assistance. The Mordian Iron Guard, Phyrus line and Paladian armoured forces arrived during a genestealer panic, which developed within minutes into a Tyranid landing. Evacuation columns were destroyed on the roads, and the Lamenters’ landing held for only a short time. The world is now barren.

Malvolion is significant chiefly as a named instance of consumption by a Hive Fleet. Unofficial summaries retain the Ghost Stars as its parent location, although some lists omit a sector. It should not be confused with the later general of the same name from Bastior.
