Mandragora
Mandragora is the crownworld of the Sautekh dynasty, a Necron polity whose stasis-crypts lie on the Eastern Fringe of the galaxy. Within these vaults sleep warriors reckoned among the finest survivors of the War in Heaven, the ancient conflict that first broke the Necrontyr’s old empire and forged them into their present form. The world’s rank as a crownworld marks it as the dynasty’s seat of authority, subordinate only to its ruling Phaeron.
Mandragora’s standing derives chiefly from Imotekh the Stormlord, the Sautekh overlord whose awakening drew the crownworld’s legions out of dormancy. From its crypts he has marched forces against neighbouring tomb-worlds seized by Ork empires encroaching from adjacent systems, contesting ground the Necrons regard as rightfully theirs. These campaigns bind Mandragora into a wider contest for the Eastern Fringe, with Ork warbands as the dynasty’s most persistent rivals and the crownworld itself serving as both arsenal and rallying point.
Mandragora’s stores of dormant soldiery mean each awakening can be renewed from within, rather than exhausted by a single campaign. Imperial forces watching the eastern border treat the world as a standing and unresolved threat, its crypts a reserve that could yet empty again onto neighbouring sectors. Within the Orrery’s map and timeline, Mandragora anchors the Sautekh dynasty’s presence in the east, contemporaneous with Imotekh the Stormlord’s own campaigns and the Ork powers he has fought to contain.
